Ink on paper (hand drawn) 14″ w x 11″ h
Gel is a bold and colorful abstraction of the molecular structures and interactions in physical gelation. Archival felt tip fine line pen (Sakura Pigma) and archival art marker (Prismacolor) on coated acid free paper. A tortuous bold marker pattern traces out curved interacting structures. More finely detailed marker patterns echo the boldest structures. Fine line patterns continue the motif across yet another length scale. The different linewidth and scales of pattern that connect and reference each other evoke the self-similarity of a gel. There are different length scales of interaction and dynamics. Now close you eyes, take a deep breath and “ommmmmm” – think about Power Laws in materials Physics!
