Pigmented ink (Windsor Newton pigment markers and Sakura Micron Pigmented felt tip ultrafine line pens) on Artboard, an archival acid-free paper composited with polymer for structural stability. The title of “differentiation” came about as I was working on the drawing and letting an idea emerge organically. The fine line inked circles seemed rather like signaling cells of different types. The colorful background patterns reminded me of patterned media that can help cells communicate and differentiate. From that point, I had a bit of fun, playing with types and patterns of “cells” and patterns for chemical pulses and signals between them.
